Type Locality and Naming

Along the village of Gadzhak, Baysun depression. Yu.R. Smolnikov et al., 1971.

Synonym: Gadzhak Suite, Гаджакская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Brick-red sandstones with interlayers of siltstone (aleurolites) and clays. Thickness 250-570m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

With erosion, it lies on the Shurysay Fm

Upper contact

With erosion, it is overlain by gray, brownish-gray, and on the western slope of Babatag, orange sandy rocks of the Baysun-Neog Fm.

Regional extent

Baysun and Surkhandarya depressions. It is correlated with the Mailisay Fm of Fergana, the Sulusay Fm of the Shurasan section, and the Agitmin Fm of the Kyzylkum.
